RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., July 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Addressing the evolving needs of device manufacturers looking to support the latest IP communications and multimedia capabilities, Trinity Convergence today announced availability of VeriCall Edge(R) 4.0 software. This latest version breaks new ground by delivering a Media Player framework that supports streamed and local playback of today's popular audio and video formats, including YouTube video.
VeriCall Edge software provides consumer electronics manufacturers a comprehensive embedded software platform for rapidly designing multimedia and real-time voice/video communications functionality into IP-connected devices such as Multimedia Tablets, Video Phones, VoIP intercom systems, Digital Photo Frames, Mobile Internet Devices (MIDs) and Netbooks / Smartbooks.

VeriCall Edge 4.0 includes a unique Media Quality Module (MQM) that provides video tuning mechanisms designed to deliver the highest quality IP video communications possible over a given network. The ability to deliver media processing, networking technology and quality of service (QoS) components in a single software framework helps OEMs minimize the challenges and risks inherent to embedded software design.

Advanced Features & Functionality in VeriCall Edge 4.0

Auto Bandwidth Control and Video Error Concealment. The MQM reduces the
impact of video packet loss by intelligently monitoring the network and
controlling the bit rate of the video stream.
-- Media Player Framework -- an extensible media player framework that
supports both streamed and local playback of multiple audio/video
formats; and enables playback functionality to be added to any embedded
device. VeriCall Edge provides an API that enables seamless integration
of the media player framework to an application. The first release
supports YouTube playback and MP3, WMA and AAC music formats. Support
for additional video formats to be released in Q4.
