| COLOME, Argentina and BERLIN, Germany, March 30 /PRNewswire/ -- The new James Turrell Museum of the Hess Art Collection celebrates its opening on April 22, 2009 in Colome, Argentina. The museum is the only one worldwide dedicated specifically to the work of James Turrell, one of the most important contemporary space and light artists. For the first time, nine light installations will be on showcase on 18'084 sq. ft (1.680 m2), spanning five decades of the artist's career. In addition, numerous drawings and prints will be shown. All exhibited works are taken from the Hess Art Collection. The Bodega y Estancia Colome, located in the Province of Salta, offers its visitors at a height of 7'546 ft (2.300 m) above sea level a breathtaking view across the wide Andean highlands and the vineyards of the Hess Family Estates. The winery of the Hess Family Estates in the Calchaqui Valley is among the highest located in the world. With the opening of the first James Turrell Museum, the region will gain another important attraction. Up to now the Swiss entrepreneur and art collector Donald M. Hess has launched two museums on the Hess Family Estates` wineries, Hess Collection in the Napa Valley/USA and Glen Carlou in Paarl/South Africa. Per annum more than 70'000 visitors come to these museums, all of which have free admission and guided tours. The Hess Art Collection ranks among the most renowned private collections of contemporary art.
